How do I know if I'm experiencing an in-home emergency?
In-home emergencies are very rare and it's unlikely you'll experience such an occurrence whilst living in your Taylor Wimpey home. To help you understand what we recognise as an emergency, explore the options below.
Blocked drains or toilets
What is considered an emergency
- When drains are causing a flood or overflowing internally or externally or when you have no other useable toilet.
Central heating & hot water
What is considered an emergency
- Complete failure of the combined central heating/hot water system. Before calling, please check that this has not been caused by local electricity or gas supply problems, or by incorrectly setting your timers or thermostats or by any shut off device that can be reset by the user (refer to boiler/cylinder instructions for further details).
Door Locks
What is considered an emergency
- Where the door is the only point of access within the property or your home cannot be made secure.
Loss of power supply
What is considered an emergency
- When there is a total loss throughout the property and it cannot be solved by resetting the master trip switch, or if the loss is partial but there is a potential safety hazard (such as in a communal hallway). Please check that your electricity supplier has not turned off the mains to carry out repair work and that there is no local power failure.
Smoke alarms
What is considered an emergency
- Where it can be certain the fault is not caused by batteries.
Structural damage
What is considered an emergency
- Where there is any movement or collapse e.g. to roofs and porches.
Total loss of gas
What is considered an emergency
- Before calling us, please check that your gas supplier has not turned off the mains to carry out repair work in the area. You can find out who your gas supplier is by visiting the ofgem website here.
Water supply
What is considered an emergency
- Complete loss of water supply. Before calling, please check that your water supplier has not turned off the water to carry out repair work in the area. You can find out who supplies your water by visiting Water UK here.
Water leak
What is considered an emergency
- An emergency will be described as when a leak cannot be contained and is causing damage, particularly if it is leaking into an electrical fitting. Discover how to isolate your mains water supply.
Gas & Electrical Emergencies
If you smell gas, think you have a gas leak, or are worried that fumes containing carbon monoxide are escaping from a gas appliance, please call the free Gas Emergency Services line immediately on 0800 111 999.In the event of an electrical emergency or power outage please call 105 from your mobile or landline and the telephone service will automatically direct you to the network distributor's emergency number for your area.
